Six Connecticut basketball players nominated as McDonald’s All-Americans

Four girls basketball players and two boys players from Connecticut have been nominated for the 2023 McDonald’s All American Games which will be held in Houston.

The girls’ nominees are Jayda Johnson of Hamden Hall, Mackenzie Nelson of St. Luke’s, Claudia Schneider of Pomperaug and Carys Baker of Loomis Chaffee.

Jack Plesser of Warde and Tommy Scholl of Fairfield Prep got nominated from the state on the boys side.

772 boys and girls from across the country were nominated. Players were nominated by either a coach, athletic director, principal or a member of the McDonald’s All American Games Committee.

That committee will narrow the player pool down to 48 players, 24 girls and 24 boys, by Jan. 24 and the final 48 will be revealed on the NBA Today on ESPN.

The All American Games will be held March 28 in Houston.
