■Bow Young at Heart meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from January to October. Membership is open to everyone 55 and older, everyone is invited to attend meetings and presentations. We meet at the Old Town Hall, 91 Bow Center Rd., from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. is a social hour with bring your own lunch and dessert is provided by the club.

■“No Book” Book Discussion will be held on Jan. 18 at noon in the library foyer. Read to a Dog is back at the library. Mr. T has returned! ■The library will again host humanities presenters as book club facilitators for the January and February adult book groups. They will host Damian Costello on Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m. for a discussion of Black Elk Speaks by Nicholas Black Elk and John G. Neihardt. For more information, contact the library at [email protected].
■Maker’s Mornings will resume monthly at the Dunbarton Congregational Church Vestry building for anyone wanting to create in a supportive atmosphere. The focus will be collage. Other mediums are being explored. Drop in from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Jan. 24, and on First Tuesdays thereafter (Feb. 7, March 7 and April 4).
■The DCC Book Club has a new name, Beyond the Book. This month the club is reading No Time Like the Future by Michael J. Fox. Discussions are held on the first Thursday of the month in the Vestry or on Zoom. For more information or the Zoom link, call Barb at 496-3253.
■The Supervisors of the Checklist will hold a session for corrections and additions to the Checklist on Jan. 24 from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office.

■On Jan. 19 is the John Stark Idol Competition sponsored by Tri-M Society at 7 p.m. in the Cafe (Jan. 26 snow date). On Jan. 23 there will be no school for a Teach Workshop Day at JSRHS only. On Jan. 28 is Spanish Honor Society Bingo Night at 5 p.m.
■The Granite State Challenge airdates for JSRHS’ team are Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. on NHPBS and at 10:30 p.m. on the same night in NHPBS Explore and again on Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
■Henniker Brewery is helping to celebrate its 10th anniversary by hosting the Henniker Lions Club’s annual Christmas Tree Bonfire on Jan. 28. Pick ups began Jan. 7.

■As part of The New Hampshire Humanities’ Perspectives Book Groups, this month we are reading Hamlet: A Novel of the Plague. The following elected positions in the Town of Hopkinton are open: two Select Board Member positions (three-year term), Treasurer (three year term), two Budget Committee Members (three-year term), two Library Trustees (three year term), Cemetery Trustee (three year term), Trustee of Trust Funds (three year term). Election Day is on March 14. Terms begin at the close of Town Meeting on March 18.
